We're gonna go into a huge blackhole of lore and yap (which i will constantly update) so now buckle up and get to know a few facts :

I joined roughly in version 6.1 or luna 2, and i have completed all archon quests and a number of world and story quests. Somehow was able to catch up and now eagerly waiting for 7.1 aq with the other fans.

I am a huge lore player and an f2p, i really dont care about meta teams and crit rate and yada yada yada, im mainly focused on the story

As of now, i have 4 ultimate fav characters i luv equally: Columbina, Furina, Scara, and Lohen (DONT YOU DARE INSULT THEM, and yes i am very ware that theyre fictional characters) and rn Mitya/Vodyanitsa r showing potential for getting promoted onto that list

My fav regions are Nod Krai and Fontaine, story AND exploration wise. Rn i have only 2 limited 5 stars on my acc: Lohen and Columbina, so thats 2 out of 4. Anyway lets just start the yapping !!

⋆｡‧˚ʚ THE SANDRONE TRAILER RETCON CONTROVERSY: WAS IT ACTUALLY? ⊹ ೃ⁀➷

So lets begin. Version 6.7 was really anticipated because ofc, we're getting playable sandrone, which obv meant SANDRONE IS ALIVE. Although it was a controversial update itself (columbina's behaviour, sandrone's design, boring event) what really ticked of the playerbase, or more lore enthuisiastic players, was a Sandrone teaser. In the teaser what basically happens is, This is before Rosaylne (or La Signora) went to Mondstadt and Liyue and Inazuma when we killed her (so we can roughly assume before the traveler woke up in the beginning of the game) and Columbina is still a harbinger. Now the teaser shows Sandrone being upset, and Columbina, Rosalyne and Arlecchino hosting a tea party/sleepover type thing in Sandrone's room, where they comfort her.

BUT FIRST : what IS a retcon?

According to Google Ai's definition, A retcon (short for retroactive continuity) is a change or addition to past events in a fictional story that alters how previous parts of the narrative are understood. Now what most players are calling a "retcon" here is the fact that in an Arle voiceline, she stated that she had no interest in Sandrone. So they think that Arle comforting Sandrone is a retcon (wow!).

HOWEVER

I personally do NOT think it was a retcon. Arle is a calculating, more morally gray type of character. Throughout the Fontaine aq and her sq, she had no trouble lying to the traveler. I do think it mightve been possible for her to be lying about not being interested in Sandrone, but its slim. On the other hand, the theory I THINK is true, is that after Rosalyne's death, Arle just drifted away. Relationships CAN fall apart like this, especially if Rosalyne was the one to introduce Arle to bina and sandrone and make a whole group chat. After all, i dont think Sandrone and Arle communicated that much faceto face informally as friends, and it could be.

BUT BUT BUT, that doesnt mean i didnt spot an ACTUAL retcon there, one that almost NOBODY is talking about :((

So lets face it: We all hated how Columbina was acting in this version. The uwu shy introvert, right. Yeah so in the trailer we see Columbina iconically throw a pillow at Sandrone. But she couldnt have done, because we saw in the Nod Krai acts that Columbina didnt fully understand human interactions, especially when friends or family are being impolite or insulting or harmlessly hurting one another. So she didnt know at the time that throwing a pillow was an act of friendship and familiarity, SO WHY DID SHE FREAKING DO IT THEN AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA (i think the writers just wanted to include a silly scene, and i do think it was just a mistake)

SO CONCLUSION: Arle Retcon (imo) : No

Columbina Retcon (imo) : Mistake but technically yes
